Samsung (2018) is one of the companies that operates in the electronics industry. It deals with several products including smartphones, refrigerators and television screens among others. The company sells these products globally, using different criteria. For instance, in some countries, they have both retailers as well as running their branches. Logically, Samsung products, particularly the smartphones have attracted many customers. They offer to sift competition in this sector since many people prefer their products. Samsung (2018) does not perform a thorough quality test before releasing their products into the market. In some cases, the company has faced overheating challenges which have impacted negatively on their operations.
Opportunity
The remaining market for Samsung products is still large since not everyone can afford the S7 smartphone (2018). Therefore, the need to manufacture a phone with such features and quality aspects but at a lower cost proves vital.
Threat
The electronic industry is quite competitive since it has several rival companies. Some of the competitors for this market include Techno and Apple among others. Therefore, the only way to remain successful in this realm is by using quality as a competitive edge.
Quality Focusing
One of the methods to focus Samsung’s attention on quality is by measuring the number of complaints against sales drop. For example, they should perform their analysis concerning the losses they make as a result of people fearing the overheating of the phone battery (Batten, 2014). This method is appropriate since it compels the company to focus on quality to avoid losses. Despite many factors being likely to contribute to sales revenue drop, customer behavior proves the primary cause. They are often sensitive to the quality aspect which they normally get from rival products. Thus, in this case, identifying such causes will help Samsung to block any loophole that can compromise the sales of their products.
Quality Culture Elements
The move to ensure product quality requires that a company embraces some cultural elements. Despite Samsung displaying some features that explain its commitment to availing quality products to its customers, some areas still compromise its effort. For example, they still need to work on the continuous quality improvement culture (Batten, 2014). The process will make them identify areas that require adjustments and implement them on time. Additionally, the company must focus on their customers as a way to guarantee quality improvement. The need to listen to their complaints and adjust accordingly (Batten, 2014). Concerning their smartphone, there should be quick to address the overheating issues that many clients have presented.
Customer Evaluation
The company has both internal and external customers. Most of the Samsung employees purchase their products also purchase their products. Thus, they form the internal customers of this organization. Moreover, Samsung Galaxy S7 has a majority of external customers who buy the product (Samsung, 2018). Most of these clients only remain loyal to the company following the quality of this type of smartphone. One may attribute their purchasing behavior to the ability of this product to satisfy their expectations. However, qualifying for the purchase of this product implies that must belong to a given category or class of consumers. However, since the organization deals with multiple products, its customer base extends beyond that of those buying Samsung Galaxy S7.
Change Implementation
One critical method that the company needs to embrace is the continuous process improvement. This approach will allow them to identify the areas that require adjustment and find ways to implement them. For example, the company can listen to the complaints from their customers and act accordingly. Another recommendation requires the management to show leadership commitment by undertaking actions that aim at quality improvement. They must promote employee development and avail the necessary resources for fulfilling these objectives.
Strategic Alliance
The next recommendation to this company is the need to accommodate strategic alliances. One such initiative is to use particular retailers in distributing their products. The process will ensure that S7 smartphone accessible to most of their customers. Another strategic alliance should be with online companies like Amazon, YouTube, and Facebook. These platforms can assist in product promotion by making their features known to the potential customers. As a result, the company stands a chance of commanding a large customer base.
