This project is intended to assist you in preparing for the midterm exam by allowing you to think on how communication has influenced your identity and personal culture. We’ve discussed how humans create patterns of interaction together throughout the semester’s five lessons: how technology shapes our understandings of self, other, and society (Lesson 1); the role of language in (re)producing these patterns (Lesson 2); how these patterns produce a multitude of cultures and privilege (Lesson 3); and how communication shapes our sense of self, self-presentation, and identity (Lesson 4). (Lessons 4 and 5).
Your task is to connect two of the five course ideas to your own sense of identity or personal culture. You may choose any area of your identity or personal culture to focus on, but you must use at least two course themes from distinct lessons. A notion can be derived from any course texts and/or interactive lessons, and it should be a clearly recognized concept that is fully described, referenced, and applied in your daily life.
If you’re unsure whether the topics you want to write about will work, inform your instructor no later than a week before the post is due so you have plenty of time to compose it, spell- and grammar-check it, and correctly credit all sources. Emailing during the week before the post due date demonstrates a lack of preparation on your part, and if you wait until the week of or two days before the due date to compose your post, the instructor may not be able to answer in a timely manner. Two course principles from the previous five classes must be applied. You should not use two concepts from the same lesson.
In terms of the concepts, there is a three-point requirement: You must clarify the subject properly and appropriately cite it according to the course readings (do not use the lecture notes!). When compared to a novel, that’s like a Tweet), and explain the notion in your own terms.
A coherent introduction, thesis, preview, and conclusion are required. (Pre-write!!)
Instead of discussing the principles in a distant manner, you must confront and apply them to your life.Consider the following questions:
Are these concepts properly addressed? (Have I adequately explained them?)
Are these ideas adequately addressed? (Have I gone through the concepts thoroughly?)
Do these ideas appear to be linked in the way they’ve been explained?
Do my explanations and examples of each concept make sense?
Is my post well-written from start to finish? (Have I double-checked for grammatical and/or proofreading mistakes?)
We cling to early impressions, and we deploy confirmation bias based on those first impressions later on (THIS IS THE LESSON IN THE BOOK)There are two stories here. Because of the opinion of me based on my skin color, one of my strolling along the street and people walked to the other sidewalk ( U HAVE THE FREEDOM TO SPICE IT AND ADD DETAILS)
My friend and I’s vehicle story. A black man working on his car in the parking lot of my new apartment complex, and a neighbor reported that I was working on my car in the parking lot, despite the fact that I was not outside or even awake at the time (All these are true but you can spice it up)
It’s connected Perceiving Others (Chapter 4) ( THIS IS HUGE)Talk about stereotypes and common behaviors, and how they apply to me despite the fact that I’m a fantastic guy.
ALSO, A LARGE DISCUSSION OF HOW MY PRIVATE IMAGE DIFFERS FROM MY PUBLIC IMAGE. IN MY PRIVACY, I AM VERY REFLECTIVE AND NOSTAGLIC. I’m open and accepting of everyone in public. This is a course concept, thus there is no need to connect it to anything. Just be inventive and specific.
