It was almost 3 am, Zoe was perspiring profusely as she paced around the faintly lit bathroom staring at the motionless body of her best friend, their adventure had taken a turn for the worst. Kate and Zoe are best friends who do everything together. Zoe is the mastermind of their plot that involves deceiving their parent that they are going to the school library. However, the girls had planned on attending a senior class party that Kate had been invited to. After Kate and Zoe arrived at the party, they decide to part ways and promise to meets after two hours to begin their journey home.1. Desire (Kate does not want her parent to know that she attended a senior students party after lying to them that she was at the school library studying for an upcoming exam) + danger (Zoe who is supposed to drive them back home is passed out on the floor.) (50 words)
2. Kate and Zoe are best friends who do everything together. They have lied to their parent that they are going to the school library for an evening discussion in preparation for an examination scheduled for the next day. The girls were supposed to leave the library at 11 p.m. ensuring that they arrived home before midnight. However, the girls had plans of attending a senior class party that Kate had been invited to. Kate is from a family that upholds Christian morals and values, and therefore she knew that she could not attend the party due to her parent’s strictness. On the other hand, Zoe is raised by a single parent and therefore has been taught to be independent, however, her mother does not tolerate lying.
The first action that will complicate the tension is the fact that Zoe is passed out on the bathroom floor and does not appear to be responsive. After Kate and Zoe arrived at the party, Jack who had invited Kate welcomes them both and offers them drinks. Upon inquiry, Kate realizes the drinks have alcohol and offers her drink to Zoe who gladly accepts the two half-full glasses. Jack takes Kate to find to look for some soft drinks as she has never had alcohol before and she doesn’t intend on starting on today. That is the last time Kate saw Zoe at the party. Kate finds her two hours later in one of the bathroom’s unconscious. Jack attempts to pour cold water on her face but she remains motionless. So Kate decides to undress Zoe and place her in a tub with cold water as she had once seen in a movie. As she undressed Zoe, she notices two fresh and distinct marks on her upper arm. Upon further inquiry, she confirms they are needle marks and her worst fears come alive.
The second action that complicates the tension is that when midnight reaches, Kate’s and Zoe’s phone starts to ring as their parents inquire about their whereabouts. Kate refuses to answer any of the calls as she is unaware of what to say and where to begin. Her best friend was the mastermind of the plot whereas Kate was just an accomplice. Kate is confused and terrified of what is currently facing her and what awaits her. Zoe was the one who always had answers when faced with such complicated circumstances. The best she can think to do make Zoe from the alcohol-induced state so that they can come up with a rational plan. When undressing her best friend in the bathtub, she notices needle marks on Zoe’s arm leaving her in an even greater predicament. (450 words)
3. It was already past midnight, Zoe started to panic as she stared at Kate’s unconscious face, her best friend and the mastermind of their crazy adventure lay passed out on the bathroom floor. (33 words)
