Description / paper instructions
“Assignment Template.docx” file is requirements of this assignment.
“Assignment Sample.pdf” file is my classmate’s assignment, You can look at its format, but don’t copy that. I believe it will improve your efficiency.
“System Engineering 1.pptx” is my topic and content, please refer this ppt to write my assignment. 2000-2500 words.
if some questions or need more time, or cannot write it, please tell me asap
PROJMGNT 7013 – SYSTEMS ENGINEERING 1
Assignment – Template
Replace the above title with an ECIC cover sheet.
1. SystemOverview
(Follow the comments in red and delete them before submission.)
Introduce the project, and express in your own words the customer needs you have been given as you interpret them. Express the aims and objectives of the project here. Don’t suggest solutions because it is useful to keep the problem definition abstract at this stage to avoid premature solution-oriented thinking even if the problem is stated that way.
For instance, it is better to say that the problem is to address future electricity demand than to say you are starting on a project to provide a power station.
2. Requirements
Prepare between 10 key requirements that cover the topics below.
Read MIL-STD-961E (freely available from the web) or a requirements engineering text for ideas. The Australian Department of Defence uses DI-IPSC-81431A that describes a similar format that suits the project well and provides a useful template (also freely available on the web).
Each requirement shall contain the following information:
Requirement Identifier:A unique requirement ID number
Requirement Statement: The Requirement Statement written using the format and syntax described in the lectures.
Traceability:A reference to where this requirement came from ie the identifier number of the need(s) or an external reference such as a standard
Verification Method: One of Test, Demonstration, Analysis – including modelling and simulation, Inspection, or Third-Party Certification). This can be written adjacent to the requirement or included in the verification section.
You are free to use any requirements structure you wish; the one below is provided for guidance.
1 Scope of Requirements
2 Applicable Documents
3 Requirements
3.1 States and modes
3.2 Performance characteristics
These are the key requirements that states what the capabilities of the system must provide.
3.3 Interfaces
3.4 Physical characteristics
3.5 Quality factors
3.6 Environmental conditions
3.7 Design and construction
4 Verification
5 Packaging
6 Notes
3. Functional Analysis & Evaluation
Include here the functional decomposition (typically depicted as a functional hierarchy) and a functional flow description. These may be done in CORE or any other tool you find convenient. Make sure that all functional requirements are allocated to at least one function.
4. Synthesis of Candidate Solutions
Using the functional decomposition from Section 3 above, allocate functions to physical entities and synthesise two candidate solutions. Describe these briefly.
Weighting: 20%
Due Dates: See Assessment Summary
Submission Details: Online through MyUni
Task:
Develop the presentation into a conceptual design report that covers the systems engineering process up until the identification of two candidate solutions. The report is to be structured using the template provided.
The report should cover at least the following:
• Requirements analysis and derivation of measures of effectiveness and technical performance measures
• Functional analysis
• Synthesis to create two candidate solutions
• Preliminary systems analysis of the two candidate solutions against the technical performance measures
Scope:
This report is intended to develop your systems engineering skills in the topics covered in the First Intensive so that you will be able to attempt the individual conceptual design tasks later with confidence. It is important that you work as a team, as you would in the workplace, but also that you acquire functional knowledge of each of the topic areas. It is important that this report addresses the feedback provided during the presentation.
Length and Presentation:
2000-2500 words. The report is to be structured using the template provided.
Criteria by which your assessment will be marked:
• Application of systems engineering processes, tools and techniques
• Ability to describe your work clearly and succinctly in words and diagrams
• Evidence of systems engineering scholarship and further reading
