Try to attempt to take the conversation further by examining their claims or arguments in more depth or responding to the posts that they make to you. Keep the discussion on target and try to analyze things in as much detail as you can. Respond in 100 words or more.
Acting out on a sense can be right or wrong. The reason being because it is based on your ethical approach. People tend to view things from different perspectives. What I may think is a good thing to take place, the next person my think that I have done the worse thing in the world. A sense of duty is motivated awareness of any ethical responsibility. When someone recognizes a duty, that person theoretically pledges oneself to its fulfillment without considering their own self-interest.
Deontological Theory is more concerned on the things that people may do. Not their consequences behind their actions. It focuses more on doing the right thing and avoiding doing things that are wrong. This is what cause many to think when acting out a sense f duty may not always be the best thing to happen.
Examples: Every second Sunday at my church, the pastor and members all gather up and head to a nearby are to feed the homeless. We also give them hygiene products and other things that he or she may need. We do these things because not because it is our duty to do so but it brings joy to our hearts to give help to those who stands in need of it. We find this satisfying to spread the joy to people that needs helps. “…in acting in accordance with duty, whilst I do perform the action that duty commands, I don’t do it for that reason. Rather I do it because I am inclined to – it pleases me or is in my interests” (Kant on acting from duty and acting in accordance with duty, 2011)
However we can use the same example above and make it acting from duty. There are some people that go to these events that take place for the homeless because either the pastor asked them to do so or they felt as they needed to be something. Irrespective of whether or not if they are inclined to do it, or if it is in there interest.
The positive of the deontological theory is to do unto others as you would want done unto you. The negative part is people not feeling in hurt or shame from being dishonest within these situations.
