Study Report #1: Analysis of Data Breach Incidents
Scenario
An audit team from CyberOne Business and Casualty Insurance Ltd, the insurance company of PBI, has gone to PBI’s offices to examine company security policies, processes, and plans. Of the companies audited, the PBI units found that most had no data breach prevention and response plans in place, with the auditor stating that the company was “not ready” to adequately prevent and respond to a major data breach. Insurance company officials say that if PBI does not make proper preparations for a data breach, then it will be denied renewal of its cyber insurance policy. To ensure that its cyber insurance policy remains intact, the PBI executive leadership team has created an internal task force to deal with these issues and close the gaps.
Management interns will not be allowed to follow the task force members as they work on this high priority initiative for confidentiality reasons. For the interns, the Chief of Staff (CoS) doesn’t mind throwing away a good learning opportunity. The CoS has given you an assignment: the challenge is to review news articles, legal opinions, and court documents and to identify any breaches in multiple data for a company competing with Marriott International (Starwood Hotels division). in response to this data breach in one of its subsidiaries, the CoS has requested that you write a research report that can be distributed to middle managers and senior executives to assist them in understanding the issues and problems that arise as a result of legal actions being taken against Marriott International (Starwood Hotels).
Research
For weeks 1, 2, 3, and 4, read the readings.
Go through the different types of insurance coverage that apply to data breaches and find out which ones fit your needs. Check to see if the insurance company requires any security measures or includes provisions for technical support in the event of a data breach before they will grant coverage. To help you get started, here are three resources.

Further Information
This assignment is made easier by the resource kit, which includes relevant materials. To meet the requirements of the assignment, you must include at least five of these resources in your final deliverable. This must be accompanied by one outside resource that you discovered on your own.
You should use standard terminology and definitions when writing your research report on cybersecurity. To learn more about cybersecurity concepts, see Course Content > Cybersecurity Concepts.
A polished, professional appearance with consistent use of fonts, font sizes, margins, and the like is expected of all research reports. Headings are a good way to group related sections of your paper. To get an APA-format document that fulfills the “professional appearance” requirement, the CSIA recommends that you use standard APA formatting. For more information about APA formatting guidelines and examples, look in the APA Resources section of Course Resources > APA Resources. For your convenience, an APA-style template has also been provided.
Every assignment you submit for grading is expected to be written grammatically correctly. When you turn in work without first using spellcheck, grammarcheck, checking for punctuation errors, and making sure your words are spelled correctly and that your sentences are correctly structured, it will be rejected.
In-text citations and reference list entries are both commonly used methods of crediting sources. All of your citations must follow the same citation style, and all of your reference list entries must be listed in the same citation style (APA, MLA, etc.).
