At UC, we make it a point to equip students with high-quality educational programs and courses that prepare them to be leaders in their fields and communities by connecting research to practice and knowledge.
DEADLINE: 5:00 p.m., JUNE 23rd
Assignment:
After you’ve assembled your team and decided the scope of your disaster recovery planning, the following step is to figure out which critical functions should be included in the plan. Are you able to quickly recognize the most important functions? What happens if one or more functions become unavailable as a result of a system failure or other disaster? What is the cost of not being able to use a feature? Some functions must, intuitively, be more valuable than others, but what is that value? What method can be used to calculate this value? Which functions must be rigorously protected in a time of limited resources, and which (if any) can be safely ignored? Which functions are critical for the company’s survival in the event of a big calamity affecting numerous operations?
All of these concerns are valid.
Your final research assignment for the course is to create a minimum of a 4-page paper that covers the following topics:
What is Disaster Recovery? (Introduction)
Why is it important for a company to assess risk?
What are some options for deciding on a strategy?
What Should a Technical Recovery and Crisis Management Plan Include?
Discuss at least one real-world organization that has been successful in putting the Information Security Response into action.
Conclusion final thoughts/recommendations/further research
